This holiday season many people will be buying a new 3D HDTV, computer, or Blu-Ray DVD player. As technology continues to advance now you can get a duo core Intel processor for under $500. That coupled with a 22″ wide screen monitor and your PC can now become your own home entertainment center. We recently purchased a 15″ widescreen asus laptop and got a great deal but had to do some research to make sure that what we were getting was not going to be obsolete in the near future.Finding discount computers can be easy but you also have to know what you are looking at and how old is the technology that is included in the PC or laptop. With more people on the internet a wireless enabled laptop is a must and the more ram the better. You can research the internet and spend hours trying to find the best deals on the internet or you can simply find bargain reviews where you can receive weekly email or RSS feeds on the latest tech deals.

while many companies are being challenged to find new ways to sell their products like cars and electronics there are those that are seeing a pickup in business. We saw a report that talked about those that offer repair services or sell used cars and parts are actually seeing an increase in business. As people are looking to save money and help the environment they are fixing their car themselves instead of purchasing a new one. At 24/7 spares they offer a great selection of car parts to help you save your cash and also help reduce the impact on our landfills. They are one of the leading Car Breakers which is someone who dismantles cars to find useful parts that can be reused in other vehicles.

They have received endorsements from Quentin Willson about their sales and parts and have recently won the Hitwise Award for achieving a top 10 position for all of the UK websites that are listed today.  24/7 parts is one of the premiere resources to find those hard to find parts and will help you save time and money rather than calling the local junk yards to locate your car parts. So as the economy continues to struggle take comfort in the fact that you have options to help you repair your car and keep you mobile.

SEO blog hosting

there are several advantages of having a  dedicated server that can handle the load and traffic of your blog.
SEO_blogI was reading one of their articles on SEO hosting and liked the some of the insight that they gave on 5 mistakes to avoid of which I believe at one point and time have committed at least four of those. Again my learning came about through trial and error and their blog can help others avoid months of frustration. So remember not shop on price alone, but also do some checking on the background of the hosting and find out how long they have been in business and what their standing is among other blog or website owners and you will have a much more enjoyable experience.

backup2For consumers that wish to move their files from one PC to another this can be an even more challenging task as they do not have the luxury of a tech person holding their hand or may not know about FTP and that whole process. Content and data extraction

There are numoerous web data extraction The technique called scraping to help in your search.
Companies like MOZENDA specialize in the development of applications that are also known as internet extraction tools that can help both large and small businesses create a competitive advantage. They have a great example of how their software works by using a small electronics company doing research on a larger retailer where they pull data from their site on HDTV’s that include models, pricing, and specific information. This program is then set to run at specific intervals to search the site and then report back with data that the vendor can use to help create competitive pricing or which models to offer to be more competitive. This is one special application that was showcased and only took about 5 minutes to setup. The best part is that the front end that drives this application is very intuitive and requires no programming or special skills. Their tools can be setup to grab specific website content and then organize it usable formats.

Get your own ringtone site

We have been looking for ways to increase traffic flow, and thought we would give this concept a try. Market our own ringtone/ javagame website. We use a company called MediaPlazza, which provides all the daily updated content, and we provide the site and setup. We recently saw that Google and other search engines, may be looking to de-index affiliate sites. So we set up our own domain, and used the PHP script that was provdied to get a true SEO optimized site. Try it out and let us know what you think.

Where is my toolbar

As technology changes and tries to help you become more efficient it can sometimes have the opposite effect. Just ask anyone who has upgraded to newer versions of Office 2007. Our organization had been a Office 2003 launch site so we were trained in all the various tools and how to collaborate with our peers using Outlook, Word, and Excel. Having the ability to create a living document that could then be shared across multiple groups and edit on the fly was a great advancement for our teams. With the introduction of Microsoft Office 2007 came some great enhancements but we lost some of the functionality or so we thought of Office 2003.
That is why it was great to uncover ways to keep the current platform and revert back to the old tool bar so that our searches for functions that we used on daily basis were more streamlined. With the help of addintools software we can now Show classic menus and toolbars on ribbon of Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint) 2007 as if we were operating within Office 2003. The software allows individuals and corporations to easily learn the advantages of Office 2007 without having to learn the new interface. The software can be deployed via a corporate network so that you productivity does not suffer and all the major languages are supported. You can easily enable or disable the toolbar .  While change can be frustrating the way that you view the enhancements can help you stay on task or create a roadblock. That is why I was personally thrilled to see that you can have an add on software like this in order to advance the technolgy while keeping the familiar interface around to help ease the transition.

Using TrailFire

A new and very interesting site has caught our attention in yet another online marketing venue. The sites is called Trailfire. It allows you to post your comments on any webpage, and then you can email to friends to let them and others know where you have been. The sign up is free. Simply put, you visit a webpage/ website that you find interesting, you can now comment on it and post to that webpage for your friends to see what you think. Check out this example:

We posted some trails and now you can see where we have gone and what we feel might be of interest to those we share the trails with.
Another great example: let’s say you have friends or family coming to visit you. You can pull up a website of attractions, post your Trail, and then email to your family, so that they can see what you are talking about and see the actual information. Mom and Dad, come on over. This is a great tool, as the trails can be be under one name, so that if you wish to show multiple pages to your family, all they have to do is click the arrow. What a concept. I don’t know about you, but when trying to explain how to get some website for my folks, it can be a pain trying to get them to the right URL. A Great tool that we will definitely explore and keep you updated.

Phishing or Smishing

I just recently received a text message from an unknown source stating that I had won a free iPod and all I had to do was to sign into and account I had and verify my information so that they could send out my new iPod. OMG, I won!

In the latest attempts to steal your information, hackers are not exposing weaknesses in cell phones through a new term called “Smishing”. They will use fake text messages to alert you that you have won something, or have a new message from a close friend. Then you will be asked to confirm some personal information, and then they have you. For the more technology advanced cell phones that connect to the internet, spammers and hackers can download viruses and spyware via text messages or multi-media messages. While some may be harmless, some of them are able to load on your phone and then track and record phone numbers and conversations.

While this problem is not widespread, it is only a matter of time as people upgrade their phones, and use them as more than their phone. Surfing, downloading tunes, and videos will be more common place and with it come the same perils that PC users face. So the next time you receive a text from someone unknown, you should think twice before reading it.

SanDisk protection for your documents

With the advancement in flash drive technology and the ability to hold more memory USB flash drives have become a popular form of transporting documents in the business world. I have received files via a flash drive that contained presentations, videos, and training documents that were quite large and could have been a nightmare to send via email. In a recent meeting that I attended where we had to take back the content and then train our teams we were given all the content on a flash drive. This helped to save printing and shipping costs as we could print on demand the documents we needed and we had access to all the presentations and videos in one secure place. While the convenience is great for companies to have this information so portable it presents a great challenge in being able to secure the data. If a flash drive is lost or stolen it can present monumental breach in confidentiality of the documents and could lead to priority business information ending up in the wrong hands.
That is why you are seeing more and more secure flash drive devices from companies like SanDisk coming onto the market. They  offer a host of secure mobility solutions so that your documents on your flash drive can be password protected and encrypted so that they remain secure. Because of the wide spread use of flash drives to transport important documents many companies are having to rewrite their document retention and security policies to include these mobile devices. Now that flash drives are capable of storing up to 64 GB of information transporting large files or video is easier, but presents a challenge to the IT department to make sure that they are secure and can be safeguarded against loss.
